I LOVE VWs, and practically bleed the brand, but theres now way a VW gets to 3 million miles. I drive a MKIV and at 155k the engine already blew once, trans is next to go. Having said that, ANY car can get to 3 million if you just keep replacing/repairing things.

And ALL of the transmissions were crap. I've replaced the 4T65-HD in my 98 GTP twice, and it still isn't fixed. Next time comes the full race transmission from 3800 performance.

Can't really hate on the engine tho. The 3.8 pushrod 6 was a die-hard engine. The SS supercharged was fun to drive and with less than 2k put you over 300 hp/tq. They did make another "facelifted" model that had a v8, but the supercharged 6 was still faster.
