Ugh. Talk about Crap City. :)

Voyager was a pretty good show, but I could never handle Kate Mulgrew's voice. Grating, and her acting was worse. She looked like she was in a 1940s Flash Gordon serial most of the time.

Amazon Prime has streaming, but it isn't all free with Prime. There is a portion of their offerings that are free (mostly crap that's there all the time, but they rotate some better stuff in and out from time to time). For the rest, you have to buy or rent on top of your Prime membership.

What did you mean by "...always had a stick up their behinds when it came to handling the nozzle?" They are required by law to handle the nozzle. Why would you be so derogatory toward someone who is doing their job correctly?

Yeah, I agree, this is a good law. Radar detectors are just tools for people who want to break the law and get away with it, which endangers other people. I see no reason for them to be legal.

You have a problem with people who obey the law, I take it?

That's what the law says. Whether it actually happens...

And the motorcycle operator has to hand the nozzle back to the attendant, rather than putting it back on the pump. I support Oregon's law regarding pumping of gas, but that's weird. I wonder why there's an exception for motorcyclists in the first place.

Turns out Snopes calls it 'false.' It does say that some newer models have the triangle, but it doesn't say how new.

I've never seen (or noticed) the arrow, but I heard the one about which side the hose is on a few years ago. Since that time, I've made an effort to note whether that is true. I've seen enough cars that violate the rule that I've pretty much dismissed it as urban legend.

I had a similar thought. Do you know of anyone who has done a comparison of music libraries?

Whatever you think of what they charge for what they sell is irrelevant to the question. Just because they do something you think is immoral is not justification for you doing something immoral.

I've only used a GPS for driving once, while renting a car in Europe. I rented GPS, which happened to be a Garmin, along with the car. Though I haven't used an in-dash GPS, the one thing that occurs to me that would be a huge disadvantage for them is that I can't take it into my hotel room to help me plan the next

Yeah, that was my first reaction to the headline too.

I worked at a company that changed over from 5-8s to 4-10s. The job had me on my feet most of the time, some lifting and other physical activity involved, though not 100% of the time. While we were working 4-10s, I was so wiped out by the end of the week that the fifth day was pretty much wasted, since I was crashed.

That's fine, IF that's what you do. But it is estimated that about 15% of phones actually get reused or recycled, while the rest get trashed, or stuck in a drawer.

I look back fondly on when there was ONE plan, rather than a confusing mish-mash of plans that pretty much guaranteed you don't know what you're getting.

I truly miss the days of the Western Electric 500 phone that lived for 30 years with no need for replacement, upgrades, or feature creep.

No, you aren't. But Lifehacker has a long history of enabling theft. They don't seem to care when people call them on it.

Laura Newcomer, you are my new hero!
