I thought for sure Hershel would die tonight. Then I thought Andrea would just stay missing and unresolved until they discovered her at the Governor's area, bitter and vengeful.

I like that idea.

Ditto on the cast. Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green and Chloe Moretz, especially. I really could see all three of them in a DS movie done in the same creepy, goth low-budget vein as the show. But this? Fuck it right in the ear.

I hate you, Tim Burton. I hate you so much.

I think those of us who love it today, love how unabashedly goth and melodramatic it was. The terrible production values, the background music, the graveyards and mansions - it just works in its own inimitable way. I don't see too many DS fans accepting this angle.

The Dark Shadows review is confirming my worst suspicions. A comedy like the Addams Family movies? What a wasted opportunity. I don't know why I keep believing Burton is going to turn out another Ed Wood one day when he's clearly content to just coast.

The Twilight franchise is mocked more on Jezebel than it is on here.

Agreed.

This made my YEAR. Thank you for posting this.

"And yet, every story is different and requires a different set of tools — which is part of why a really great writer is one whose books don't all feel exactly the same."

I've been anticipating Saga and Saucer Country for a long time. I really hope they live up to expectations.

That's an awesome image.

I'm glad Shane's dead, and ecstatic the show is finally leaving the farm. The zombies at the end were like a wave of freedom fighters.

I've always been hopelessly swayed by the Angela Carter short story on the murders - it's incredible and it's shaped my view of the case forever, so I can't approach this objectively.

Actually it says The Vampire's Curse, so apparently it's a different Dark Shadows movie altogether.

I have the first one on DVD.

That's not a bad price, considering what I've spent on the DVDs so far (and I'm only on the 10th set.) I do wonder, though, how many people actually sit down and watch DS. I understand the nostalgia factor but the episodes get really repetitive after a while. I have to pace my consumption.

I have no intention of seeing this, but reading this made me realize how much I miss your True Blood recaps and how much I can't wait for the next season to start just for that reason.

She was my pick to play Catwoman. I still don't understand Anne Hathaway getting that role.

But I bet you can still see her sprawled over a car hood in a Whitesnake video, am I right? What a seminal late 80's video image that was.
