It they really want to piss people off they would have you play as Simon but your whip is two feet long. You’ll need to buy a whip booster that will last for a few hours just I get the same default whip from the original games.

In a sense, they do: there are Animal Crossing and Mario Sports Superstars cards that are used the same way as amiibos. However, they typically don’t have the same effect as an amiibo of the same character, but they function as “generic” amiibos in unsupported games.

You might not of been able to snag the amiibo when it available, but at least you can still get the benefits (in games) with the cards.
