I had no idea - I just assumed that all nurses knew how to do a proper rape kit, or, at the very least, all hospitals had at least a few on staff who had special training. It had never occurred to me that you can’t just show up at any hospital. What another awful layer added to the clusterfuck of assault.

people don’t realize that you cant just go into any hospital and get a rape kit done. theoretically you can, but as a victims advocate i can tell you kits done by non- SANE nurses are brutal and the chances of the DR/nurse fucking it up are very high, plus who knows how they will do testifying in court.
