Both films are, as Modus alluded, “good” in the same way. For one scene or one aspect that was so special at that time it blinded us to the fact that it was attached to something otherwise unremarkable.

Back when the AV Club was great. Speaking of which, I’m going to say here what I said there on the Bullitt remake newswire piece.

I remember once, my father really wanting me to watch bullitt with him so that I could appreciate how much of a classic it is. And when we actually watched it, he had a fairly regular cadence of “Don’t worry it really picks up later on, just wait” or “It gets so good at the chase sequence!”.

This is the correct line of thought.

Can’t we just watch Ronin?

Potato, butter, whole milk/half&half, salt and white pepper. That’s it.... Nothing else.

Back in 1999-2000 I was taking a flight from Bern to Munich (then onto Toronto) - halfway to the airport in a taxi I had to explain to the driver in painfully broken German that I had forgotten my paper ticket in my hotel room. Amen to almost all of that, Brother/Sister! I’m fine with the almonds and walnuts.

Oh you’re still using the old transistor shower curtains, aren’t you?  Get with the times, grandpa!

I look at you all, see the love there that’s sleeping

Our shower curtain rings had no idea they were such a dated, out of touch technology. Hard to tell if they’re weeping, but it’s a good bet.

It’s not a horrible list. I have a soft spot for The Terminal - I don’t think it’s great, but as far as Spielbergian sappy endings go, that film seems to demand one, so I always end up kind of liking it.

Lifelong Ohioan here. There are some long in place laws which establish a retail price floor which guarantees a minimum profit, the same for independent wine shops and supermarkets. According to https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-administrative-code/rule-4301:1-1-03

All of the stuff about Georgy is great

Young Sheldon is great....when Sheldon isn’t the focus. Basically all the other characters are far more enjoyable to watch and am far more interested in their stories than Sheldon, especially georgie.

I am shocked! SHOCKED, I say! To learn that larger, heavier vehicles as well as those with more powerful engines have worse fuel economy.

If they bring out a food scale at Thanksgiving you can bet your ass I will roll my eyes so hard I might fall out of my chair.

The dog’s job is to tire out the visiting children, and vice-versa!

My top one lesson from trying to host Thanksgiving one year:
