As did I. The backstory revealed in the intel was a great incentive; in fact Black Ops is the only COD where I bothered to track them all down.

"Førstepersonsskytere" is a really rad way to say "first person shooter."

My own two cents on the whole MW3/BF3 dust-up, having bought both:

Still up as of 1:47pm Eastern.

Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

I'm totally with you on not being able to back out to the main menu after a match has ended. It's just plain bad design that you have to wait until a new match has started before you can leave.

I played Oblivion for a few days, got bored, forgot about it for a couple of months and then sold it back to Amazon for $20. The crime being I think I ripped 'em off.

I am definitely glad I don't do stuff like that for a living.

Just how meta is it that reviews are getting reviewed now? We should start an academic/literary journal. Kotaku Quarterly.

Vive la différence.

What the fuck, Vimeo.

Geez, I hope so. These first few levels are a real slog and not much fun at all.

So, will those of us poor saps who still play on standard def TVs be able to tell a difference?

It...was...the...Dukes...it...was...the...Dukes!

Man, I love me some Stana Katic. Especially in the third "Librarian" movie, since it's such a departure from the tough women she usually plays.

This is an interesting point to raise, though I didn't notice it myself. Perhaps because— at least in American English— it's definitely unusual to call a woman "asshole," "dick," "douchebag," etc. Of course, I suppose this in turn raises the issue of gender-neutral invective.

It might have just been the Operation Metro map, since it didn't have vehicles (and to me that's a selling point of the BF series). I played and enjoyed the Bad Company beta, which was also a rush map.

I gotta admit, I have a few worries about this. I played the 360 beta (no PC) and didn't have that much fun with it. I don't know if I'm too tuned to COD or what, but I just couldn't get into the swing of things.I'm also concerned that there only being 24 total players for these huge maps will be...suboptimal?

Did everybody get a trilingual (English/French/Spanish) box for this game? When I opened up the package from Amazon I noticed the Spanish paragraph first and was alarmed for a second.
