This is good news for VW, they can expect to pay no more than 5% of the net profits on selling the cheating cars as fines. Just like the big banks do when they are caught laundering drug money or violating any number of regulations.

Because, according to almost everyone automotive technicians aren’t allowed to make money. We’re also supposed to push, pull or drag cars in and out of our stalls so we can keep making money during the whole day.
