I like your thinking, and I’d love to see this work. But it won’t. Too few people are actually willing to buy RWD as a daily, and the target market won’t have the luxury of making this a toy. That means the platform sharing market is very limited. Maybe it could have an AWD system to make a small truck or crossover,

Id like to see a picture of the frame. The Promaster can and chassis have the same stamped rails the vans have that make a unibody for the cab portion. They are just capped over to make a boxed rail aft of the cab. It's a pretty strange looking set up.

I used to be a licensed safety inspector in PA. PA has a pretty thorough process that really does check for vehicle safety and not much else. It’s done annually and is usually under $50. There is also a pretty stringent audit system that means 95% of shops are pretty honest. I’ve since lived in a few states that don’t

Compared the the other sporty compacts in its price range, it still has the nicest interior. And your grandpa is clearly an exception. I doubt the number of buyers over 50 exceeds 10%.

Because a very large percentage of GTI buyers want a fun car with a nice interior and a reasonable payment. They will never push it hard enough to need it, so they aren’t going to pay an extra $1000+ for parts they can’t see or feel on a test drive. I've known quite a few GTI owners and not a single one did so much as

I would NEVER let an inexperienced person borrow my truck to tow with. If it was someone I liked, I’d just tow it for them for beer. If not, I'd be out of town that weekend lol

Wonder how many boats/campers/horse trailers will be damaged when noobs use this and forget to check the mirrors instead of watching the tounge on the screen a few seconds too long.

Not if everything inside the broken drum is bouncing around. Some of those bouncing parts are for the emergency brake.

The knob is great. It's very mechanical so it's easy to use it by feel. And it adds a ridiculously large storage cubby in the console. I had a 1500 8 speed, now have a 2500 column auto. I'd take the knob over the big lever.

I had a Pentastar Quad cab 2WD, but otherwise pretty loaded. I pulled several cars on a 2500 lb steel trailer. Did just fine, even on hills. Shifts quite a bit, but that's to be expected with the 8 speed and highish peak power of the V6. It's roughly equivalent to an older Hemi 5 speed when unloaded.

I clearly said former. I’m no longer a tech and I haven’t lived in an inspection state in several years. I don’t have anything to gain financially from inspections occurring. Instead I have to see idiots driving around on bald tires with screeching brakes and no rear lights. And the accidents that result cost me

My 04 STI checks all those boxes, and that's long before they were anywhere near a volume brand.

And far too many drivers do not take that burden upon themselves. Also, the vast majority of safety inspectors do a very thorough job. A botched inspection is grounds for inspection license suspension, which makes you almost unemployable in those states. Further, failed components mean work for the shop and tech,

The guy in the speeding challenger is an idiot and deserves to be caught and jailed. However, the cop is reponsible for making a positive identification. I’m sure the driver of the wrong challenger was arrested, and without this video he would've had no way of proving his innocence. Even with the video, it appears to

Please tell me how someone with no special skills or training building a car using automated equipment in a safe, clean and bright factory making twice the national average income needs so much protection. Protection from what? Being fired for smoking and drinking at work or sexually assaulting colleagues?

Every state should have a reasonable safety inspection. I used to be a licensed inspection mechanic in PA. Some of the unsafe crap people drive would make you think twice about leaving your house. And that’s in a state that requires annual inspections.

Exactly, so why brag about it as if it somehow improves the new car?

If you grew up with a Rebel Machine, I am supremely jealous

That part has been available for months. Your dealer is mistaken.

That is how the industry did it for years, and how they would today if they could. However, in late 2013 NHTSA began requiring customers be notified in writing within 60 days of finding a defect. To repair a recall, the manufacturer has to determine there is a problem, determine the cause of the problem, determine how
