You’re right - it’s not like they’re out of options. But management don’t seem to regularly make good decisions about the future of the company. Starting with something like a street tracker based on one of their smaller bikes would be a good start:

They could develop bikes under the MV Agusta brand, but they sold that to Giovanni Castiglioni in 2009 (for $1, after buying it 15 months earlier for $109M). Or they could use the Buell name, but I’m not sure it’s worth much without Erik Buell involved, and he’s unlikely to come back after the way that HD fucked him…

Oddly enough in the US the original Escort had an Isuzu diesel that was all but unkillable. 1.9l displacement IIRC, and not that slow. I worked for a courier service in college that would get 500K+ out of them. Other than the motor, utter junk though.
