All things considered, he wasn’t off by that much. What’s 33 years for a disturbingly accurate prediction of future events?

Baylor admimistration is pretty conservative, but there are a lot of international students, so you’d be surprised about the overall political leanings of he student body. Though there is a pretty big conservative Christian element as well (or at least there was when I was there, about 15 years ago).
My favorite of Waco trivia is that Stevrme Martin is originally from there. He once said about the Alico Building (downtown Waco’s only surviving skyscraper): “t’s the middle finger of Waco, flipping people off as they pass through on their way to somewhere else.”
Used to live in the dorm right next to I-35. The best thing was that there is an underpass walkway that goes under I-35, so you can walk to all that stuff from campus.
I used to go to Baylor, and I totally agree. I miss Fazoli’s so much.
I spent four years in Waco while I was attending Baylor University, and I had my share of dealings with Antioch. I had several friends who attended there, and they even convinced me to go a time or two (I’m a Baptist myself, and while I’m quite liberal now I was more of a moderate back then - this was between 1999 and…

That’s the most poetic thing I’ve read all week.

Trump voters are like the electoral equivalent of the desperate guy in a movie with a relateable problem who throws the audience’s sympathy out the window by taking a bunch of people hostage.
Only if you look at it from the parent’s point of view. From the child’s point of view, the government is totally interfering in your personal life.
Not to pile on OT responses but we need someone like Woody right now. This was his guitar:
Also, as an Oklahoman, Woody Guthrie Represent!
Wow. I know it was about Trump’s father, but that is disturbingly prescient. The lyric about “Trump’s Tower” in particular, since I believe Woody died long before Trump Tower was built.
“I am Spartacus!”
Totally! It’s amazing how their “keep the gov’t out of my personal life” rhetoric drifts away when it comes to people whose personal lives they don’t agree with.
If they don’t do worse. I’m afraid this bill may endanger some kids’ lives.
That is awesome! (Although I wouldn’t have told them that — I would have just done it.)
Sadly true.
While I don’t believe Baptists ever openly supported homosexuality, they did used to be much less conservative than they currently are. The Southern Baptist Convention suffered a conservative takeover back in the late 70s/early 80s (around the same time as many denominations). They used to be much more open and…
