The boy says that they were. Who knows if the girl realized it was a staring contest. What should of happened is the teacher should have pulled them aside and explained his staring was making the other student uncomfortable and had him aplogize and move on.

The best advice I can give on this is to give your son the notion that he shouldn’t worship his heroes. He should admire aspects of people, and endeavor to be like them in that way. But I don’t know if there’s even a single person (let alone a man) who he should uncritically mimic in all ways.

I think there’s some real confusion going on in this article and, then not shockingly, in the comments below. In Tibetan Buddhism, any sex that’s not straight up generic sex meant for creating a new life is considered misconduct. That’s for everyone, and it’s rooted in many things, not the least of which is the idea

but then he also says they’re “enjoyable and harmless”, which…seems like the opposite of every other religion. Why can’t every religion admit that even though scripture says it’s a sin, it’s not actually hurting anyone, so who cares?

That’s some high quality histrionics.

I watched the video and this is how it came across to me too. Just a like a dad joke.

I’m not saying her Twitter handle is @MaryMitchellCST or that the paper’s is @Suntimes and that you should overflow her stream with the definition of consent, but I'm not saying you shouldn't either...

I know there’s a lot of talk about how poorly the civil war and the issues around it are covered in schools, but I do think everyone gets the ‘slavery is no longer legal in this country’ part. Maybe we need to define it better? For the Mary Mitchells if the world: you cannot own people, and you cannot lease them. If I

It’s a logic sort of on par with “Because in certain situations Banks will let you have money, robbing a bank is essentially just disagreeing on the repayment terms of a loan”.

Rape victim here. I’m not being mocked by holding a rapist accountable for rape. If he had been charged with theft that would have been making a mockery of human decency.

I’m not one of those women who believe rape victims are at fault because they dressed too provocatively or misled some randy guy into thinking it was his lucky night.

I’ve had this argument so, so many times with so many different people that I’m considering getting a form letter made: Did both partners consent to (insert sexual activity here)? No? Then it is rape/sexual assault. No other information is required.

My wife is 5’4 maybe. I am 5’11. When I was younger I briefly dated a lovely woman who was 6’2 barefoot on the ground. She was wonderful, and her long, long legs looked great peaking from a dress. I never thought about how much heels added to her height or what people thought until years later when someone commented

It’s funny, I just listened to this NPR story (Fresh Air interview, more specifically) about a book on autism. This guy asked some autistic guy, “how did you sleep last night?” and the answer was, “Why?” Literally, the person couldn’t understand why someone even would ask.

THIS! I say do and date who or what you like. Even reject whole swaths of people because of race or whatever. But please don’t lose your shit if someone points out to you how your preferences were potentially shaped by a particular social and cultural context.

He has to be noticeably taller than me. Like I’m 5’5” and I dated a guy who was 5'9' and when I reflect he seems short. So like 9'3" or something. 14'5" or 7'8"

I think the difference between her and Davis is that Davis was denying individuals a legal right to get married, which is federally legal and required due to her title. Alcohol isn’t a federal right in this country. There are dry counties everywhere because the local government considers it to be against their

If this woman is being a asshole, I’m afraid of what you consider normal.

They should have diluted it in water until there was statistically probably nothing but water left.
