I was able to drive one last year on a visit to my daughter. Pretty impressed, but not enough to think about spending that kind of money on it (if it were for sale here). Her boyfriend’s father has it and we did some mudding and playing around. Definitely the low 1st gear and the diesel torque were impressive.

Normally, I’d be 100% with you. I run my work Tahoe (SSV) on the beaches all summer with full street pressure. My last 4x4 was a 2004 WJ and same with that. I guess my question should have centered on the 4x4 system, rears and whether it had low range. 

Have you had the chance to run it through deep (sugar) sand yet ? I do like the GX, but am worried that the deep stuff on our beaches will bog it down...

Well said! I live on an island in NJ and we allow folks to take 4x4s on to one of the beaches. There are plenty of Renegades in the summer, they only run into trouble when the sugary beach sand gets deep near this time of year. Just not enough power, clearance or a proper 4x4 system.
