A perfect addition to the new BMW: the Ultimate Lease-and-Return Machine.

Well, you're right about a 335xi - especially if AWD is important to you, since as you know there is no AWD M car (yet...sigh...I'm sure it's not far off). I wouldn't bother with brakes though. The 335 and the E9X M3 use the same pad size on the front, if you can believe that (I was pretty shocked when I read the

Depreciation for one. The 135i is worth approximately 6 bucks north of 100k miles. Also you forgot to add a limited slip diff for another $2500, because the N54 cars (especially tuned) are useless without it. If your ONLY goal is to tie/beat an M on a drag strip your suggestion isn't a bad one. Otherwise, I'd stick

Current M3 (S65) doesn't have a dipstick either. Sensor in mine works pretty well though, better than the one in my previous car with an N54. Still, would be nice to be able to check out the condition of my oil from time to time instead of just the oil level. No spare tire either of course... 1/10? would not drive. =P

I don't think the upper end of the range will really matter all that much. I owned an N54 car and it was very flat near redline. This is basically a tarted-up N55. I doubt there will be any real incentive to wring its neck all the way to 7500, regardless of whether the fuel cut is 75 or 7650 or whatever. Until we find

Service on the E9X is largely condition-based and no valve adjustments are required on the S65 engine. So what crazy maintenance do you mean? =)

My lord is that steering wheel shiny. How about - oh, I don't know - cleaning it once in a while?
