My 5 year old has fallen out of bed a half-dozen times at least... I don't think kids are born with the instinct (when deep asleep) to roll back when they start to feel the edge of the bed. Or maybe I forgot to pass along that gene when I made him.

Not a big fan of Romney the Candidate or Romney the Businessman, but it's always good to step back and see a mere human, and his family, and admit some humanity into the picture. That's a great family you've built, and I feel lots of respect, and a little twinge of envy (and more than a little relief not to have had

If I wanted a closed and locked-down ecosystem, I would buy an iPad. A vastly better user experience than stock Kindle. More expensive yes, but in this case you get what you pay for.

Zero. Apple's stuff is neat, but I'd rather have value. Proprietary adapters and closed ecosystems are a con.

Why update? All the good music was made years ago anyhow.

Smartphones are by now a fairly mature market segment. There simply aren't that many OMG! moments left to be had. Even for the 4S reveal, most of what we saw was incremental - all components were faster, smaller, better, lighter, etc - but there were no revolutionary innovations. That's why Siri got so much

Don't worry. Your government will waste no time in converting this arcane genetic research into weaponized scientific advances.

Gawker Media needs to implement breathalyzers on their posting tools.

Apple ][+ still with me, just in case. Palm Pilot Pro. Syquest EZDrive. VCR. Cassette deck. Creative MP3 CD player. Record Player. Triumph typewriter.

So true. My 6-7 year old iPod is the bomb. Touchscreens suck in this specific context, for the reason you mention.

Good luck finding the 3R12 batteries at your local CVS.

My 7 year old Sharp LCD came with a great speaker - semi-attached, and integral part pf the design. No 3D trickery, but a big honking sound.

Love the Hondas of that era. Great classic lines.

The new New iPhone looks better than than gilded old New iPhone. Still, nice that they're thinner than the previous generation old New iPhone. I'm going to hold out for the next New iPhone though.

Their desktop client is in the process of being rolled out - see:

The female one appears to have some appropriately pink TP inappropriately stuck to its rear end.

I've been using iTunes exclusively for the past 10 years, and it's done the trick. It works. But g-damn do I hate that bloated, crippled, limited, proprietary piece of sh-t. The hours I've wasted wrestling that beast.... it's not made for a 47K song library.

I would speak to myself more positively, but I hardly deserve it, and I'm sure it wouldn't do any good.

Doesn't bother or offend me in any (principled) way.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...
