well SMT games are more grim and darker than its Persona counterparts so yeah its a matter of preference; I was actually looking into the new character of SMTIV final and i saw the backstory of the old protagonists and yeahh they all have depressing storylines; Ima fire up my 3ds again and buy SMTIV
