My trusted system includes
(1) email with a corporate Outlook account and several personal eMail accounts all channeled into one gMail account,
(2) Feedly/Press/Pocket for reading,
(3) Evernote to store (almost) all current files and notes,
(4) Dropbox as a file archive, and
(4) Toodledo as a project and task manager…

Toodledo is the only app that I can tweak to fit my workflow. It is probably overkill if one just needs a list (or a few lists) - although it can be "reduced" to do that well as well.
