That's interesting because a coworker went to an Apple store at 8 this morning to get an iPhone on Sprint. He said he had to wait about an hour for the system to work and activate his phone, but the people activating phones on AT&T and Verizon were having no problems.
AT&T does have a significant chuck of AWS specturm (1700/2100 MHz), of which Verizon has very little if none at all, so it can catch up to Verizon, or at least get very close.
