Wow, freaky. Not two minutes before I saw this article, my Outlook dropped the IMAP connection to my Gmail and kept giving me connection errors trying to reconnect. It's back up again now, but what impeccable timing for a random connection glitch.

Saying them both in my American head, they both sound like equally normal-sounding terms. I probably use them interchangeably without even thinking about it.
