On the Surface? All the time. On my laptop? Sometimes. On my Desktop? Rarely, but not never (I'd use them more if they were more useful/powerful than my desktop options in many cases).

You're using metro and you haven't figured out how to have two apps on screen at the same time yet?
There is a safe mode.
Open control panel, type "Defaults" into the search box, and just scan the list of application associations and change them once and for all.
Are you still clinging to your rotary phone, and cassette tapes too? #Luddite #IgnorantTool
If that is true, then most of you in IT and CS are ignorant idiots.
Dumb. Why would anyone want to do this? Ugh. Ignorance and willfull stupidity run rampant.
It's not fake. It's real. Once you get over the (admittedly frustrating) learning curve (which MS does little to help consumers get through), it's a really great OS. It's faster it's more efficient it's more capable.
I find that people who "can't stand the UI" haven't really made any effort to learn to use Windows 8. They just bitch about how they can't do everything in exactly the same way as Windows 7. Well, surprise, things change ever version. You can't use Win7 exactly the way you used WinXP either.
You are really, really reaching here. Sorry, but the guy is a doofus, it's obviously he hasn't REALLY Tried Windows 8 (not with an open mind), and he's just whinging. And you're just grasping for straws.
Yes, there are benchmarks to backup that claim.
Obviously he didn't try it with an open mind, or give it enough of a chance to actually learn to use it. Someone who had only ever used WinXP who sat down to try and use a modern OS X would probably call that unusable too, if they tried to use it exactly like WinXP (with a closed mind).
Your'e staying away because you're ignorant. Yes, the new UI takes a little bit of getting used to (took me about a week), but for the most part on my Desktop I fequently forget Metro is even there any more. And on the Surface, I frequently forget the desktop IS there. It works great on both devices.
This guy is truly an idiot. Seriously.
... if it is a tease about a real new "FallOut" game, I just hope it's better than the dull & ugly "FallOut: New Vegas".
