I'm sure the young master meant "journalistic equivalent"

Japan's dirty secret is that *all* of their kids are pretty much that cute. Seriously.

Of course the streets are the same! They're made of grey stuff and cars drive on them.

Eh, while that's not untrue, I think he might actually be talking about Radiata Stories, wherein you could kick anything. Sometimes to good effect, sometimes to bad effect. And often hilarious effect.

An important thing to understand about situations like these is that when a gun comes out, most of the time it's being used purely for intimidation. The gun represents overwhelming force, and the intent of the gunman is not to use the gun.

Brandon Sanderson needs to stop taking all these franchise tie-in jobs and get down to working on his own damn books. It's a *crime* that the first book in the Stormlight Archive series is in paperback with the sequel more than a year away (and not even officially announced).

First, it seems to me that she has realized that she isn't just a "girl games journalist" after all. What she wants to be and what she is are two different things, and someone isn't a hypocrite because they discover that the labels others apply to them aren't matching their own ideals.

The majority of responses to this article that I've seen are, frankly, terrifying me. Seriously, people? If what she's saying is bothering you that much, either she's hitting a bit too close to home or you're just an angry, angry person.

It's hidden by the folds in the rear view, but you can see that there is at least one scalloped edge that isn't hidden, on the right side. So it probably is fully scalloped.

I figured that since it was obvious Ornstein second was going to be much harder than Smough second, I should probably go for Smough second in the NG+ to take at least a little of the edge off that fight.

Yeah, it's almost impossible to have the Drake Sword sufficiently upgraded to do much good by the time you get to Anor Londo. Anor Londo is a bitch in a lot of places, though— the Silver Knight archers on the side of the building and the Ornstein/Smough fight are definitely worthy of rage quitting.

Grr. I swear that one started out as one or two paragraphs and then kept going.

In Japanese, consonants don't exist separately from vowels— the two non-kanji alphabets they use is composed of a series of categories of consonant sounds, and in each of those categories there are the five vowel sounds. So you have the first category, which is null consonant (a, i, u, e, o— or ah, ee, oo, eh, oh as

He *did* do that. But the producers wanted more sound bites, so they made him go back in (he winced) and start "reacting" to it.

Horst, maybe this will help a bit?

I think that's largely a personal difference. Some people have more or less difficulty depending on a ton of different variables. Phonological capability varies wildly from person to person, and I think we all have different experiences with specific sounds to some degree.

Now playing

The sound for "r" and "l" in Japanese is not quite the same as the sound in English. The best way to explain it, perhaps, is that it isn't really a single sound— it's more like a continuum that spreads between 'r' and 'l'— and even passes through 'd' at times, like a single trill from a rolling 'r'.

Why does the word "threequel" get thrown around so much lately? I'm not even sure what it's supposed to mean. If it's the third in a consecutive series of games/movies/whatever... the word 'sequel' has you covered just fine.

It wouldn't do it any kind of justice, anyway...
