I am a capitalist tool who can have more vacations with or without booze if I got a raise.
It annoys me very much that some commenters are ungreyed immediately when they are brand new and that some, like you, have been around forever and are still grey. Couple that with the sudden greying of long-time commenters, well-respected commenters, in the past few weeks and I totally get being over it.
Please, please...stop. Oprah is great and all but, just....no. No more celebrity presidents. Like ever. I never thought I’d live to say this but I want a professional politician back in charge. Not just someone “from the tee-vee.”
I lay this at the feet of people who still, despite all evidence to the contrary, think that one single thing is going to take him down. She, as you said, over-estimated her audience,* but what she did in that hour was carefully lay out exactly why these two pages were important and the oddness of the two pages.
why?
I think it’s certainly worthy of debate whether one thinks she miscalculated her audience. But, I do find it weird that some people are framing this as a rushed job as if she ran the story the same day she got it, as if she’s known for not being careful or something.
All congratulations to RuPaul, who announced Wednesday on Hollywood Today Live that he had married his longtime…
Hand-wringing over Richard Simmons’s well-being has become a national pastime, thanks to the hit podcast Missing…
HAHAHAHA you’ in the black now! congrats!
Except that, as a woman, everything I’ve ever experienced in the workplace tells me the exact opposite.
Another problem, to me, was both candidates were younger and reasonably well-dressed. Put a 70+ obese woman in a garbage sack of a suit up there and see if people are as sympathetic. It’s the Tomi Lahran principle - people are more willing to accept dumb shit from a conventionally-attractive young female face.
That’s what I was thinking. If the participating audience was already full of people who wanted to see a woman become president, their bias cannot have been removed from their experience. It’s a neat experiment, I guess, but it’s so hypothetical that it’s not possible to get a real response, because everyone already…
Ah, but this is all inside our liberal bubble. What do those poor ignored white men in the Rust Belt think of this? Their perspective is apparently what counts, if I am to believe most of the handwringing I read post-election.
Isn’t it fucking awesome that everyone still does the same kind of women jokes in 2017 that they did in 1951? Yay, make America great again!
Do you know who these writers are? This is it. This is what they do all day on their own blogs. This is their best work.
I don’t get why you boys feel the need to post jokes and shallow vapid pieces all day. How hard is it to do a couple of gossipy-fun posts (you know celebs, sports what the fuck ever that is silly and fun), a couple of updates on what the administration is doing, and updates on the Women’s Strike Day? Why are you all…
Remember on election day when all those idiot men at Deadspin said they weren’t voting or were voting third party or various other dumb shit?
Can we maybe stop talking about his tweets? There are things that the Republicans are doing everyday that threaten the American way of life. The president’s asinine tweets are the perfect cover as they are both sensational and largely inconsequential. Let’s give it a rest. Please? Our way of life, based on some of our…
