I realize that you were mostly talking about the first part of the book. Yeah, it was a bit of a stretch of the imagination, but still sounds plausible.

You’re right that this is not all Texas, but they still have enough of a stranglehold on the politics that we’re all still hostages to their lunacy.
Ehhhh, give 5,000 years of social rebuilding and technical development in materials and orbital mechanics, it’s easy to give them the benefit of the doubt. I mean, who could imagine where we are now 5,000 years ago? The genetics of the second part of the book were a bit more sketchy for me . . .
If one reads Seveneves, it includes a Skyhook as a method of getting to orbit and changing orbits 5,000 years from now. Hopefully we don’t have to wait so long.
Genderfluid lumberjack gets extra points.
This is more of a car-centric motor vehicle blog, and airplanes are motor vehicles, so “in scope.” They used to have a pretty good defense discussion, too (search for “Foxtrot Alpha”), but that migrated over to another automotive website as “The Warzone.”
When did the Kriegsmarine have naval superiority over the Royal Navy in WW2?! And, while there were exceptions, the Germans and British and Americans generally showed some code of conduct toward each others’ POWs, unlike on the Eastern Front.
If you were to buy a pristine 928, would Sonderwunsch do this conversion to it? If so, that might establish the upper bound of the price for this car.
And you weren’t tested? I guess it was only at the primes.
A long time ago, but I didn’t need a security clearance for my job for a gov’t contractor, but I had to pee in a cup on day 1, and they could’ve asked for one anytime after that.
Are people flagging this hood wearing racist, or just responding to him? There is a function to flag posts for hate speech. I already did, so I’m responding to nother message.
Maybe that’s a bit over the top? A “serial killer” mentality is a bit unfair; pretty much everyone in motorsport was inurred to accidental death in that period. You probably would not have had motorsports in that era without that callousness.
Could you please narrow it down? While I can guess the one you might be talking about, there are so many automakers who made so many mistakes, I can’t be sure.
How many yachts can you water-ski behind? How much is enough?
The speeds in this article are a mess. I’m trying to figure out if they’re trying to do top recorded speeds with tailwinds, or they took maximum operating Mach (fastest mach the airplane can fly, Mmo) and mis-converted to speed by using speed of sound at sea level (760 MPH) instead of at the altitudes they’d actually…
I mentioned it, although after you did, I think. It wasn’t offensive as much as offensively generic. I’ve always approached Toto albums as demos for an incredibly talented set of studio musicians and producers. Lyrics don’t mean anything (and are really absurd “I know what I must do is right, sure as Kilimanjaro rises…
What about the Weezer cover of Toto’s “Africa?” The original was not the best track on the album, but was catchy, more for Toto’s superb studio musician skills and production than the absurd lyrics. The remake was generic to the point of offensiveness.
Bingo. And well executed.
Good to know. Not surprised, given the response. Kinda thought there was some motivated reasoning there. Thanks for the confirmation.
I find a bit amusing that two responders say that it’s stated in the article, but come up with opposing conclusions.
