Yeah, the glaring problem with it in my mind would be what they’d do with the transmission. I suppose zero gears would be okay i guess (i mean i’m fine with in in a go kart i suppose) but a big part of the fun of the Miata is in that gearbox IMHO.

Yeah I was being a little tongue-in-cheek about the question but the more I dwell on it, the better of an idea it becomes.

Miatas are usually second cars and are almost always a toy. I think lots of people don’t want to rely on an electric car as their only form of transportation, but if their toy, that they’re never going to be tempted to take on a road trip happens to have a super low overhead and never needs gas? That’s pretty cool.

Yes, yes they do.

Out of curiosity, why do you think that would sell so well?

Mazda does make beautiful cars. I really think an electric Miata would sell like crazy if they can price it under 30K and make it have a range of 200 miles or so. I mean they put so much money into Wankel which is FAR more complex to fix/troubleshoot/refine the sealing issues. Compared to that an Electric Miata should

Lincoln Continental 30 way adjustable seat:

No stanced minivans?

Also, I’d much rather depend on the reliability of a Toyota than a Dodge...

Sienna? More like JDM-A!

True the Carvan does have more seat features. But the Sienna is more modifiable with over night parts from Japan:

It’s due to the Green Weenies. Recyclable plastic being recycled long before the car is used up is their idea of “sustainability”

No issue man, I get that your E46 experience can turn you off to bimmers, I’m not a fanboi, don’t worry ;)

I know I’m not directly answering your question, but have you considered the first gen Z4? I’ve road tripped with it quite a bit and I love this car.

We have an 02 SC430. Great car. I’m replacing an O2 sensor tomorrow, that and a leaky oil pan gasket are the only two things I’ve had to repair in 10 years. They’re a little spongy in the corners and you’ll find the transmission a little laggy with DSC on, but its got a big engine, its comfy and its fun to be able to

You could probably even swing a 987 Boxster for similar money. No backseats, but the ones in the Mustang pretty much useless anyways. Plus, extra storage, mid-engine, etc.

Or the Lexus, which would mess with people’s perception, as the only ones I see around are older ladies driving them. So, especially if you mod them

I also think that the Lexus when new had a much higher MSRP then the mustang when new and as you mentioned Lexus reliability and reputation accounts for a lot. Plus they were rare to begin in the first place.

Friend had the Lexus, they’re fantastic cruising cars. Toyota reliability is pretty high. Of course the best convertible around is the Miata, but they still don’t make a 4-seat (or larger) version. :-D   (My friend sold the Lexus and picked up a brand new Miata RF.)

Based on the above article there may soon be a glut of V6 Mustang convertibles to drive prices down....

I bought a 2018 Mustang Premium EcoBoost Convertible back in March. I’ve been very happy with it. If you go the Mustang route I suggest getting a 2018. You get Sync 3 and the 10 speed.
