I wanted the Jetta Sportwagen from VW for a long time, up until I saw that the Passat has ONE MPG more and 300 miles more range per tank when it came time for car shopping.

So I just hopped ships over to the Passat sedan.

Yeah, the amount of schooling and selection that you need to go through to be a Naval aviator... *jaw drop*, nevermind, I'll go back to racing.

I live in the middle of nowhere, I actually like having 950 miles to a tank in my Passat, and having a quiet and cushy ride after a track day.

I have been loathing having a FWD with overactive traction control nannies for most of the year, wishing I had a drift car or a sports car. Although, after doing some karting

Fuck no, I'd think they would want to die quickly and less painfully (ie, gunshot, and be cremated).

It's those fucking Mainlanders. #donttrusttheChinese

Neither can it fly upside down while maintaining altitude.

So, if my understanding of antilag systems and diesel regen (to clean the cat) are correct... why aren't these superheated, fuel rich vapour rings igniting upon reaching clean air?

Edit: nevermind *facepalm*, I see the rings igniting.

I like sporty engines too, I lusted after 911s and S2000s while in high school, and relished the task of getting a friend's FC3S to the track (lost his license because DUI). However, I really enjoyed the quiet ride in my '13 Passat on long road trips, the fact that I had power on demand in 6th gear for passing +

I've liked cars since my brother let me play Gran Turismo on his PS2, I've competed in local Rotax fixed gear karting races, and I've owned many cars that I've sweated through in hot summer months.

I've liked cars because of the comfort of having something waiting there to have fun like a dog that you can upgrade, take

Care to elaborate what turned you off of driving diesels so much? And what do you drive nowadays?

>but i think we will be within my lifetime.

We'll see the end of our fossil fuel supply within our lifetimes, so it would be a coin-toss, if they make it, it will be the ultimate petroleum ICE, if not, "we were so close".

R32 Skyline, put a 1JZ or LS3 in it :D

This is what happens when a redneck comes into "cocaine money".

Welp, so much for realizing my dreams of hooking up with my high school crush after college, she just got a lot more expensive.

>and over time the cost of fuels will balance out to be equivalent per amount of energy you can extract from them.

In a twisted and round-about "fair" world, maybe. The prices are more directly related to how much effort and time went into harvesting and refining the fuel than energy content.

If energy really is

Why not skip all of that and ask which chassis has the best milage in meters for converting one newton-meter into meters covered?

Then we can have a separate debate over which powerplant on the market is the most efficient in converting a set number of basic hydrocarbon molecules into Nm?

But then again, we don't count

Chemical equivalence is irrelevant in terms of gasoline vs diesel, diesels are automatically superior when the prices are within a few cents per gallon.

How many dollars per gallon is liquid hydrogen available for?

When diesel costs similar or less than regular unleaded gasoline like it is right now on the West Coast, then comparing a TDI to a Prius is fair.

Otherwise, we're going for miles per dollar.

Besides, diesel is far better than gasoline power because of that density and unarrested detonation (detonation via high pressure;

The throne of the best hypermiling car has been succeeded by the Passat TDI.
