Especially when you consider that MacFarlane originally pitched what became Orville to CBS/Paramount and they shot it down. I’d love to see what a proper Trek universe Orville would have been.

No. It’s 100% on point. The films are often too focused on pew-pew space battles and big-budget VFX...often to the detriment of what makes Star Trek, well, Star Trek — exploration, character relations, the human condition, etc, etc.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Kelvin cast again, as long as they chose to another episodic style adventure like Beyond, though they really really need to lower the stakes. I’d like them to take a chance on a wild story idea like Voyage Home (without copying that plot).

But here’s the thing, elsewhere I saw Paramount

Stop whining and let us KR fans have something!!! :P

being poor is expensive

I did not forget about it.

Totally agree. Picard was awful. Too much. Shit. It was as if someone threw a bunch of random TNG concepts into a blender and hit puree. “Romulans. Plus Borg! And, uh, androids! What’s it all mean?? Nothing!  Who cares!”

If I had a nickel for every incompetent nincompoop I’ve had to deal with who has an MBA, I could retire. Seriously.

I was going to ask how someone with more than 4 years of college can’t recognize an incompetent grifter when they see one, but then I remembered Ben Carson went to med school, and Michael Cohen/Rudy Giuliani both went to law school. So, obviously, that shit doesn’t mean you’re smart.

The elevator alien could be in an Orville script without any changes

I get the distinct impression that they fall prey to the most common misconceptions that most people who didn’t watch much Star Trek seem to: That TOS was actually “The Wild Wild West,” only set in the future, i.e. a show about guy who was constantly screwing, getting into fist fights, and finding himself in

Every time I see that written I throw up a little in my mouth.  Whoever said that clearly does not understand the the thematic elements of either Star Trek or Rick and Morty or understand how those two very different shows with very different world views are completely incompatible.

Discovery tried to be Orville in Season 2 and now Star Trek tries to be Rick an Morty.

After hating Picard and Discovery, I was REALLY hoping to have the reaction you did!

Yeah, the first episode of this sucked pretty hard. Loud, frantic, noisy and annoying show’s overriding tone. The dialogue is delivered in such a ridiculously rapid fire fashion, as if to disguise the fact that it’s not actually clever or funny or worth listening to.

Hey, you doin’ alright, Allison?

Too many Joeys around.

yeah, it’s gonna get even worse before it even starts to get better

They’re definitely that desperate out here.

Currently, I would say October is out. They already cancelled their halloween stuff and yeah it’s just bad. They also have postponed a bunch of work to be done so Epcot is a wreck right now.
