Personally I like this deviation from the books to the series. She's not even a memory three books later and hasn't been heard from since. At least this way, the fetal stabbing and cute naming of the baby moment; it had more of an impact on the audience.

Where are the references to the children of the forest? We should have already met one of them via the books when it was focusing on Dondarion's men. With Bran's future events, isn't it about time we start getting some name dropping?

I doubt it has anything to do with not being curious about the books, but rather it's an attempt to not ruin the show's plot twists. Regardless if they exist in the books or not.
