It’s been a dog’s age since I listened to the first season of Serial. I remember coming away from it with two distinct impressions:

Note that this is the same judge who was basically doing the defense’s job for them during the trial, interrupting prosecution nonstop, talking to the prosecutors like they were bad little children in front of the jury, misconstruing the facts of the case in front of the jury, and blaming prosecution for procedural…

I’m actually angry about this sentence. Blameless life? FUCKING HARDLY. His own daughter called his hands blood-soaked. I think we all know that the legal system tends to be kinder to white collar criminals but this is ridiculous even for his particular criminal profile.

Right? Like, I keep reading (and seeing) how outdoor shopping / city-like towns and outlets are becoming super popular. I’m in the northeast - it’s fucking COLD or SWELTERING for about 85% of the year. Who wants to go outside if you can avoid it? I think the issue is that crappy stores are the ones staying in malls…

I don’t think the Shopping Mall era is ending; it is just rebalancing from the bubble form the 90's. There is still a need and occasion for it, just not as much as perceived back then. 

If you live in places where the weather is less than wonderful for 4 to 5 months a year, malls provide a great place to get out of the house (even with little ones), meet a friend, grab a coffee, and do a little shopping as well. Also great for the elderly ‘mall walkers’ - it is their combo of safe exercise and social…

I teared up watching that. I had the pleasure of meeting Alex Trebek when I was on Jeopardy three years ago. We filmed on the day David Bowie died. I’m devastated for him and his family. Pancreatic cancer is the most awful thing I’ve ever seen a person suffer through. Alex Trebek is a lovely man who has brought me joy…
