I disagree. There has to be support and ducting underneath or it will shake and not vent correctly. They may have to move the fuel filler location.
The vent is on this side only because it was too hard to photoshop the other one on the other side. ;)
That's a feature enabled on certain DSG cars (My new GTI doesn't have it). I would imagine the engineers have worked out a way for it to work without putting extra stress on components. Probably an extra bit of programming, etc.
