Except that isn’t what the series is about, which you would find out if you didn’t just listen to people who hate it for their own reasons that don’t actually have anything to do with the show at all. To paraphrase Captain Lorca, “consensus is for cattle”.
I’m just a Star Trek fan, and I love Discovery, as do my family members and friends. We watched Star Trek growing up, but not religiously and don’t attend conventions. Those who self-identify as Trekkies/Trekkers do not seem to like Discovery, however. I’ve heard many Trekkies say, “It is alright scifi, but just not…
I want to frame this comment so that it can be used in the future on the exhibit of nerd douchebro commentary.
All Star Superman was by Grant Morrison.
I know there are a lot of cynical cracks to be made about this, but can I tell you how happy it made me to see all the little Reys running around at our Halloween parade this year?
Agreed. There is nothing about Discoverys theme that sticks in my head. If it didn’t have those few bars from the original theme I never would even guess it was from a Star Trek series.
Amen! Russo’s is just the usual rhythm line for most of the theme’s running time. I’m personally pretty bored with that technique.
She ran across No Man’s Land and faced down machine gun fire solely because she saw a crying woman in the trench begging for help for the town she came from.
This, though, is the entire BvS problem in one example. The movie wasn’t made from a place of understanding of the characters, nor of building up their motivations, nor of making us understand them. The plot moves the characters, passively, through their story, with them taking actions that they must to get us to the…
Previous canon had said that the Victory class was the largest that could go in atmo, so there was a cut-off point for size implied. I’m getting over it, though, and it’s been great fun seeing SSDs and stuff blow up and crash in SWBF.
Jupiter Ascending > this
Eh, by that point Lucas had already stolen a lot of things from our system.
I’ve never understood the appeal of these types of videos. If you make these videos or enjoy them, you clearly hate film.
You and me both. I imagine the Simpson’s “Comic Book Guy” making most of the droll observations. The show is fun. I like it. I am not bent out of shape about continuity minutia or what colors a uniform is.
Quite honestly? I have long since decided that if I enjoy a show, I stop caring about how it fits with any previous canon and timelines. In fact, I have even come to view discussions on such subjects as shows on their own right. If this thread expands to a full-on discussion, I might as well bring the popcorn.
Go out, kick the living shit out of someone and then when they’re about done say sorry, you’re just kind of bland.
I don’t hate this show.
The showrunners have said all along that they plan to explain why the spore drive is not seen in future shows. Hang in there.
