sounds fair to me.
"Okay. So here's my question. Who is authoring these unintended messages?"
"Also the word you're looking for isn't metaphor. But it leads me to believe you think I was making a metaphor...which I wasn't. Which in turn leads me to believe you've gotten the wrong end of the stick with my comment."
I think what Jason was pointing out is that by denying the queer community equal representation and then completely failing to engage with the people who were upset about that, Nintendo was 'saying something' unintentionally. It's sort of the same as when you argue semantics instead of talking about the topic at hand.
Oh, I agree, it's far reaching. But public relations is evil, and once you open that box there's no saying "oops, our bad, we didn't mean anything by having or not having it." (which I believe they really didn't, I believe it was an honest mistake)
I think that Jason's point is that an "apolitical" position is the MOST political position because it assumes the universality of one's worldview.
So when are people going to start rebelling against their tattooed parents by not getting any tattoos?
Jensen is much more righteous... unless... well...
As a lefty, it actually bothers me quite a bit when games don't have lefty-friendly controls (especially motion controlled games and on-rails shooters). I was also kind of upset that Link got right-washed for Twilight Princess. It was a minor inconvenience, but it detracts from the gameplay experience, and it also…
I didn't realize that FireRed came out before Emerald. I thought that they had always finished out a generation before they did the remake.
Talking about your mindset about a game is publicizing by definition. At the very least, you're publicizing it to whoever you're talking to, and they can judge you for it as we judge each other for any number of beliefs. Why this is an issue for people against homosexuality in particular, I don't know, because it…
Reminded me of that "What's your name?" scene in Star Trek '09 where the kid screams "James Tiberius Kirk!"
"What's your name, kid?"
There's the cultural issue of frequently copying stuff—you'll notice that while there's a lot of copying going on in the Western Market, there's an equivalent amount of improvement. Timeshift, for example (great game, by the way), copied Half-Life 2's whole shooter-with-a-gimmick thing and we got the ultracool…
"All hope is not lost. Japanese developers design amazing characters and create memorable worlds and experiences. And no game engine, no matter how good, can do that." One of the best games I played this year, Xenoblade Chronicles proves exactly that, I've never seen a world like this (one that takes place on the…
I know Capcom has made plenty of mistakes this generation, but I still say they deserve credit for their MT Framework. They've been modifying and re-using the engine for this entire generation and I think (technologically-speaking) the results have been generally great.
