It’s the sausage dilemma. Everbody wants a good sausage, but no one wants to think about how it’s made. With gaming the same: Everybody wants the perfect fun game, but no one understands that funding is the biggest hurdle a developer has to overcome.
Since nobody else does I guess I have to say it out loud then:
Yeah of course, why didn’t I think of it. They should just go out to a publisher, say “here, the sequel to a game some really liked but in the end was a huge commercial failure. Now give us some of your money to create that game”. As we all know, nothing ensures creativity, artistic value and the creators integrity…
One big Problem. Who pays for that? You have a complete Studio of professionals, working ~1-2 years on a game. They want and need a fixed salary. How are you going to pay them if you only make money after that?
The only reason I can think of why Konami would do something stupid like this is that they are afraid Kojima would spill out some ugly truths about the company if given some public appearance. And that’s just a sad testiment of a company.
Nope, sorry. As much as I love Indie (or semi indie in this case) games, to me this one really was a big let down after all the press it got , and I really wished Armello would’ve been chosen on PS+ instead this one.
