I wouldn't be surprised if the moped gangs had origins of influences in the post-war mod subculture. The highly-specific similarities between Japan and GB are kind of fascinating considering their obvious differences.
I was expecting completely bat shit vans...
Shakotan is essentially the term for any type of automotive style that takes inspiration from the old widebody silhouette Japanese GT racers, like this old DR30:
This is a really well done article Kat, I enjoyed the read. Great work!
Silly me, I thoguht this was going to be about cars.
Is it just me, or do these techniques actually look much cooler than what we see in Hollywood?
This is an accurate description of the process.
I prefer the Swamp Donkeys' version. I can just picture the characters swaggering down Bourbon St. to that song.
This was also considered acceptable well into the 80s, I spent many hours riding in the back of the family wagon, no seatbelts, hell no seat (the rear seat took up valuable underfloor cargo space, my father always ordered his wagons without the 3rd row)
those violons are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars each. not exaggerating.
Humidity and heat changes can be brutal on violins/viola/cello. Especially since many of the methods and materials that are part of their construction are essentially unchanged in 200 years. Guitars as well.
If anything, I'm too good at sarcasm, but that's not the point right now. I wasn't being sarcastic at all. In lieu of the FAA getting appropriate funding to develop the law, the old rules still apply. I'm a musician who has flown with very valuable instruments, and I'm a professional journalist who has covered this…
Unfortunately for everyone, that law also covers holding your phone sideways while filming.
Apparently, the violin put him over his carry on limit. I carried trumpets on a plane last month with nary a peep from the airline.
I find this whole thing very odd, as I carried a Yamaha ukulele on a US Airways flight as recently as three years ago without issue. Unusually jackass gate operator and pilot, I guess.
I'm a professional trumpet player, and there's no way on god's green earth I would ever check my horns. I've also never had a problem getting them stowed in the cabin, and a violin case is usually not much larger than my trumpet case. That being said, they do make special travel cases for musical instruments, and…
Um yeah except legally they dont fucking have to. This isnt a laptop here, string instruments can run into the tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars and airlines are notorious for destroying them both accidentally and purposely through malicious baggage handlers.
I'm so sick of Northwest Arkansas and how they're in bed with Big Fiddle. It's like they don't even care that you're not a bluegrass band, they just see a violin and assume you're a threat, even if you're just a 3-year-old Chinese kid. Don't even get me started on East Tennessee and banjos. They shot Steve Martin…
