I am calling bullshit on this one ... I lived in Yellowknife where McDonalds workers made $25 an hour. I was making about $165k, only a month out of law school ... I was considered "working poor." In fact in Yellowknife, there is subsidized housing for people making up to 105k .... Bear in mind the cost of living in

Quite possible. I vaguely remember them posting pics on POF saying they were s "swinger couple" looking for another male.... Hubbie wanted to film dude having sex with his wife.... They would lure him to a cheezy motel or uHaul storage place and hubbie would kill him with axe. I don't think they got too far. My

Responded to similar post above..... Never denied men are the ones doing the violence. But it is no consolation to a male victim that he gets the privilege of being murdered or robbed by a member of his gender lol

My point was men are at risk. Never took issue that men are the risk :) ... It is hardly a sign of privilege to be murdered by a member of your own gender lol ... And the women who lure the men are hardly angelic victims. Technically they are parties to a homicide by virtue of laws of conspiracy.

You are probably right. I thought it was a couple who pretended to looking for a threesome on POF and then the chick would meet the dude at a deserted place only to have his head sliced in half by her axe-murdering hubbie??? I could be wrong. Hell, it could be a US story. Again, this was years back and I saw it in

I disagree. Women are at a physical disadvantage. However, men are at a psychological disadvantage. I have seen it over and over again... Young dudes who assume because they are big men, they are impervious to any type of risk. Women, on the other hand, are socialized to be cautious and most smart women do exercise

I don't know... Again, been out of the North American neck of the woods for a while. I heard a passing blip on CNN. I am sure you are correct as serial killers are fortunately a rarity in Canada, especially ones who work as a couple. Last one before that I can think of is the Bernardos.

:)

This is not a conversation about women. It is about internet dating. Online safety is not particularly a gendered issue. While males and female experience online violence differently, for obvious reasons, it is a global issue. It would be like making Ebola or the ISIS threats a gender issue. We are all in danger.

In fairness, our legal system is premised on the presumption of innocence. In the civil context, the onus is on she who accuses, not he who denies. Remember when everyone jumped to conclusions in the Duke Lacrosse case? Or the DSK fiasco in NYC? I would rather wait until the facts are in before a judgement is made one

You see this sort of thing during Carnival in certain parts of Brazil. "Performers" are dressed in costume and commit armed robberies and other pleasant acts for the betterment of mankind. There was a really amusing bank heist where a bunch of flamingo dancers or something held up the joint lol

Actually there are significant regional variations. When I lived in Yellowknife, a small community in Canada's far north. People would just meet up at another's place without ever having met before. Maybe because it is such a small place and everyone knows where everyone lives anyway. The biggest fear of online dating

OMG! This reminds me of my third date with an ex. I had consumed two bottle of Gatorade Propel (the vitamin water stuff) and half a box of Honey Combs ... A few hours later we became intimate and when I was on top, I farted. Turned out it was more of a liquidly shart. Basically I ended up buying her a new bed.

This is not derailing. The message in all my posts and replies are the same... Everyone needs to be suspicious of meeting someone for the first time, be it online or in a bar ... In my travels, no one is safe or immune from danger. In fact, as I said on another post, men often are lulled into a sense of false security

Of course date rape drugs exist. It is a generic term. Hell, you can crush 20mg of Valium and use it as a date rape drug. Personally I have immunity. I clearly have the constitution of Hunter S. Thompson, as I tend to mix booze, cocaine, Valium, poker and guns lol ... I am here for a good time, not a long time :)

Ironically for the reasons cited by many opposing my posts, men need to worry ... Being a 6'4" strong-man does not equal invincibility. Likewise, the same encountering a 4'10" woman does not mean an advantage. I notice men, particularly young men have this illusion of invincibility and makes them take really, really

No kidding ... It is the storage locker of choice for meth producers, serial killers and other lovlies who contribute to the betterment of mankind lol

Technically speaking I am not a MRA as much of the community call me a feminist lol ... It is like my bi-racial status as white and Aboriginal ... I get shit from both sides. I prefer Jezebel to most MRA sites as I find the calibre of discussion more productive minus the personal insults. It is no mystery that most

It was in 2011 ... A couple lured two guys to a U-Haul storage place and stabbed them in a home-made snuff film. They are both doing life for murder 1.....

I agree with you that this is the reality in North America. There is no arguing that women face a greater danger than men when meeting up for a date. Outside of North America, however, all bets are off. It is open season on anyone appearing to be from a first-world country. Female sex tourists tend to engage a single
