Look! Someone finally found a use for all those unused fake-grill hexagons! Genius work.
Here’s a free fucking idea, Mazda: Make this car, then make a Mazdaspeed version, but like, don’t change anything about the way it looks. Just make it like this. If you would sell me this with a stick and a turbo, I would sell my GTI tomorrow and buy one (pending a test drive).
Are you simply suggesting this is an AWD Maxima?
Analogy Time:
Ice cream comes in many, many flavors. People’s taste buds like many, many different types of flavor (salty, sweet, savory, bitter, etc.). It would be terribly foolish to suggest that any flavor of ice cream is objectively better or worse than any other flavor, because it a purely subjective matter. A lot…
I’m... almost with you on this one. Hear me out, now - I’m thinking of a Corvette “Superleggera”, with a massively boosted 2-point-something 4cyl, mounted waaaaay back against the firewall, making 300-350 hp. Keep everything else the same but sell it for $35-40k (as you suggest). Lighter, lower center of gravity,…
It’s a bit of both. The building energy model accounts for embodied energy that goes into the manufacturing and transport of building materials (steel and concrete are huge contributors), as well as the energy required to heat, cool, ventilate, light, and operate buildings 24 hours a day, year in-year out. A building…
Of all the libraries in the entire world, you pick the Stockholm Central Library. You are a magnificent man.
If you don’t buy the Alfa, I’ll never forgive you.
The best I can figure (based on a few other comments above) is that the corner profile is not a single radius, but a subtly compounded curve. I guess this way of defining the curve profile might have been simpler than trying to describe the multiple radii, centerpoints, etc? Honestly it threw me for a loop too...
Yikes.
You know, the proportions of this would be juuuuuust right for MR layout... Just saying.
As far as the name goes, I will refer to Wikipedia:
Replying to promote. That's so cool that he is gifting this property to Aalborg, and leaving open space around what could have been a more-palatial estate.
How about dedicated Beer Bars? Not a brewery, but the kind of place that has a rotating cast of wild-and-crazy beers from all over the map. My local favorite is Birch Bar in Norfolk, VA. Right next door to Birch is Tortilla West, which has a great tex-mex (drunkfood) menu and a traditional, fully-stocked bar. It's…
Can we just talk about this horrible rear window? Like, could they have maybe kept it within the character lines already defined on the roof? Or, I dunno, made it a little taller? It looks so disproportional...
Yeah, I admit I'm not a NN native or really that much of a history buff. Interesting story, though! I'm certainly familiar with Christopher Newport (as in the university), and some of the tales that surround it's namesake.
Neither. They avoided "news" puns altogether and named it The Daily Press, because fun and love is dead. Joke's on them because I'm pretty sure the paper is bankrupt.
Not at all! It's a really, really weird name for a town. So much so, I really didn't believe it when I moved here... I thought it was the name of the local newspaper!
Great article Tyler. Always a pleasure reading your posts. One small correction, if I may offer it: The name of the town in which the Newport News Shipyard is located is in fact called "Newport News", rather than "Newport". It's a strange name for a city, but nevertheless, that's the full dingo.
