As people have pointed out to me in the past, I'll pass it on. WD-40 is great for penetrating and un-sticking screws and for WD (water displacement). It's not a great general purpose lubricant, so use a lubricating oil pen instead for squeaky hinges.

A quick update to anyone finding this while looking for open source software. A few clicks away in your search you will find that Lightworks is not Open Source and was apparently just intending to have a 'future' Open Source version. If you're intent is to find Open Source you'll need to look elsewhere.
