It wasn’t non-profit, they accepted money to run the servers, which is income gleaned from something they did not hold any legal rights to, regardless of the cost of operating servers.

So basically, you believe that if you don’t like something, you should be free to steal it and profit off of it?

Because it sets a precedent for people stealing assets and profiting off of them just because they feel entitled to it. Some of us are developers, or writers, or designers, or fans, or know others who are any.

They have to weigh the cost and effort, not to mention that it’s a rather difficult task— Blizzard can’t be blamed for wanting to do it right, not to mention that it’s extra work in addition to what they already have going on.

They’ve stolen assets and code, and were profiting off of it.

So basically, “Fuck you we’re going to steal your IP and give it out for free anyways, lol”. That’s really sad, and I’m pretty sure it’s going to sour Blizzard on the idea of making a working legacy edition, possibly for other devs/publishers of long-running online titles as well.
