Learn a thing or two about the street harassment women put up with on a day to day basis and get back to me.

The point still stands. They only showed the women who went along with it. I garuntee they approached some women who were offended by their request. Just because some women are ok with this sexually harassing situation doesn't mean it isn't sexual harassment. I'm not conflating anything; follow the conversation.

Thanks for the encouragement!

That makes a lot of sense, thanks. I'm trying to educate myself about international politics. Sometimes I am embarrassed by how clueless I am in that regard.

They could have filmed, just not put it in the video unless people signed a release. My point still stands.

Serious inquiry: what would have been the best response from outside nations after the Nigerian government ignored the kidnappings? I recognize that getting all 'Merica on their asses is problematic, but I haven't seen an alternative presented. Diplomatic relations? Funding Nigerian-based NGOs?

Good for the con for not putting up with the BS.

If these students are an indicator of the intellect and outrageous laziness of the other students in that class, I'm sure the instructor would have liked to be taken down by a car as well. Yeesh.

Holy shit that sounds horrifying. What convention was it?

What a twisted take on sexual harassment. "I'm going to sexualize you in public by basically asking you to masturbate for charity, and if you don't agree, we have you on camera looking like a prude and monster for not being against FGM."

I hope the American Horror Story writers get ahold of this.

I'm also anti-sexist-slurs. I don't use "slut" or "bitch." I posted the gif to show that Fey can be inconsistent with her advice for women. For example, in her book, she tells women they should wear bras to work if they want to be taken seriously (which smells of slut-shaming). But I still love me some Fey.

Counterpoint:

My reason for not using "bitch," even lightheartedly, is because I don't always know what that word carries for people. I was viciously bullied and slut-shamed in middle/high school, so I cannot help but have a hurt reaction when someone calls me a bitch. My friends who use it know not to use it with me, and I don't

I do not use the word "bitch." I have many friends who do, who also identify as feminists. So, feminist Jezzies, do you use the word? Why or why not?

I wish you could take on the role of Baldwin's conscience. He needs you standing on his shoulder, whispering in his ear. (I'm guessing) you've only seen the guy on TV, and this reads more honest and understandable than anything Baldwin could possibly come close to uttering. Pride is a dangerous thing that is getting

I think half of the reason Baldwin's statements are getting so much attention is because dude knows how to throw an entertaining tantrum. It would have died down much quicker if he didn't take on this victim-of-the-media attitude and keep it in the headlines.

Is that really fair? As far as we know, his wife had nothing to do with his shitstorm of an article.

I just read the full essay. What a hot mess. The whole premise of the article is that we are going to be so ashamed of ourselves and so sorry that we let Alec Baldwin get away. And he isn't to blame for anything. He concentrates on denying the f***** comment, when the homophobic comment he admits to (and the use of
