Honestly, it feels like this production had deep problems and that the absolutely unjustified firing of the lead actress was just the final crack in the wall needed to make it all topple down.

It’s actually impressive how quickly the producers have managed to revive Scream as an ongoing concern, turn out two surprisingly good movies, both of them financial successes, and then burn the whole thing to the ground in support of the indiscriminate slaughter of innocents.

I think that going for the conspiracy thinking of “oh, BBC is not ready to commit to Gatwa, so they are keeping Tennant in reserve” is going too far. Absolutely wild swing. I don’t exactly care - I’m not attached to Doctor Who’s long mythology - but it’s wild and (imo) great that Davies is just doing whatever the fuck he wants with it, because whatever the fuck he wants seems to be kind and good to the Doctors and their fans.

The sexual chemistry between David Tennant and Ncuti Gatwa was really something to behold, especially for the BBC at quarter past seven on a Saturday night.
