@gameamaze: Seems likely, yes. In a completely selfish way, I'm glad Japan is getting it first, because we'll find out about potential issues with the hardware before it releases in the West. Like I said: completely selfish. :P

@bozmanbeyond: You should probably make this your Kotaku front page for another day or two: [kotaku.com] Like it or not, the 3DS and PSP2 are by far the biggest gaming-related news these days.
Neon Genesis PlayStation 2.22: You Can (Not) Play.
OK, enough with the sexification already, you devilish silicon vixen!
@JonnyPark: Very true. Bigger screen + OLED will make those movies pop out. Here's hoping for decent codec and filetype support - that's where many portable devices falter, unfortunately.
@DeadnBuried: Agreed. You can't exactly carry those things in your jeans anyway, so they might as well bulk it up a little if it means a more comfortable grip, bigger battery and larger screen.
@Luke Plunkett: Great news! I thought this was one of those "here, look at our trailers and prototype but don't touch" kind of events.
@Good news, everyone!: Yes, the 3DS got a crapload of coverage. Yes, the front page was covered with 3DS news and opinion pieces. But that was a whole week ago! Who remembers that far?
I wouldn't read too much into this (unfortunately). It's likely that the minimalistic branding has more to do with the device's not having an official name yet, rather than a new branding philosophy. The final product will probably carry its own logo.
If David Milch is on board, I'll give it a chance. The idea of turning what's essentially an interactive film with multiple paths into a non-interactive linear film makes very little sense, but Milch can write a damn fine script. I'll wait a little longer before I start pulling my hair out.
That's a whole lotta sexy - the kind of sexy that usually goes for a whole lotta money. It's all very convincing so far, but I dread the price announcement.
@KiwiMan: And if I may be so bold: TEMP-TING!
Not bad, but not Yamaoka. I'm not asking that Licht ape Yamaoka, but judging from that 90-second clip, it's simply not as memorable.
@legendnthemaking: What? That's barely enough for one person and you want to share?
@Diamond Sea: Damn, I love that song...
@AstroFunk: "In a lot of them they do effect a lot of the content you can and can't see, because you simply didn't try to see it(like fighting a secret boss, meeting a character, or crafting a specific weapon)."
@Diamond Sea: Here, you deserve it. :)
@gordeaux: Hear, hear! Real men don't need no stinkin' vidja games to screw up their lives! CHEST BUMP, YEAH!
Well, well, well, what do you know... The nominations aren't half bad this year - which probably means nobody will watch the show or care who wins what. None of the people and films nominated in the major categories seems outlandishly out of place. Good job, Academy.
What WRPGs have successfully done and that JRPGs usually don't bother with is... well, actual role-playing. (Bear with me, because this isn't a criticism, it's an observation - there are merits to both approaches.)
