Rian Johnson is a very good director but a very bad Star Wars film director. He is great at telling stories but bad at sticking within an already established world. He is unable to thread the needle of being innovative while staying within established formulas

Agreed. The “tangents” were explorations of the world the show and character inhabits. And were quite fun. I’m also sure that knowing Filoni’s style, he’ll pull on those threads setup in them for future seasons of the show.

Hot Take: Deborah Chow episodes have been probably the best and my definitely my personal favorite. I can’t wait to see what she does with the Obi Wan series.

White dude here. Nope, didn’t know who he was till just now. Found a play list on Youtube, really like him. The closest I can think of to equate this feeling of missing out is when teenagers talk about Youtube celebrities or Anime kids wax poetic on some K-Pop.

Those slow-mo shots of bones breaking always gross me out. *shudder*

She could litteraly kick someone’s head off with blunt force. Woa...

Why not have another season, set a few years in the future or the past, and taking place in a different part of the world? Not dealing at all with the events of this season? An anthology series within the world of Watchmen?

LOVED this episode. Probably my favourite so far in the series. Also of note, Bill Burr is now the ONLY Star Wars character to utter a “normal” curse word with the “Wiseass!” crack. Very fitting if you ask me.

It has been the prevailing theory that The Child merchandise was kept off the table by Filoni and Favreu as a way to insure it wouldn’t be spoiled by toy manufacturers, months before the series came out. I commend them for showing restraint if true.

From everything we know in the postmortem of season 8, it’s become clear that the showrunners needed much more time (episodes/seasons) to finish out the show. And although HBO has shown they were more then willing to let the show run for a few more seasons, or at least a much longer final season, Benioff and Weiss

Did this website just forge t about Stranger Things Season 3 this past Summer?!?!!??!

At this point though. I doubt he’ll be making that trilogy. Partly based on fan reaction to Last Jedi but also due to him getting so much hate for it, that he’s probably of the mind “I don’t need to deal with more hate for THREE films.”

Rian Johnson is a very good director, as evidenced by his non Star Wars films. He’s just not a very good director of films set within an established franchise. As evidenced by his Star Wars set film.

Lucasfilm needs a person with Kevin Feige sensibilities but unfortunately Kathleen Kenedy isn’t that person.

As it was, it just felt like he did a lot of things for the sake of being different.

Counter Point: There’s always room for more Alice Eve in anything, ever, forever and ever.

I’m not sure it’s that good of a Star Wars movie.

Personally, my frustration came from 2 and a half hours of being told everything I liked about Star Wars was bullshit and that I was an asshole for liking any of it. Or at least, that’s the impression given off by the film.

Uh... no? What other middle chapters are you speaking of? Empire Strikes Back? Some other franchise? I’m confused. I will always contend that Rian Johnson wasn’t out to make a Star Wars movie. He was out to make a Rian Johnson movie. And that resulted in a lot of the film’s failings and shortcomings.

No thanks. Netflix, Amazon and currently Disney+ with their subscription fees are as far as I’ll be stretching my wallet currently. And Amazon is probably done for me after I finish the last season of Man in the High Castle.
