I don’t remember not wanting to be girly, it’s funny, almost everyone here seems to have a story about either embracing pink or hating it. For me it was neither. I was completely neutral towards pink. My mum made a lot of my clothes, and she decided I looked nice in greens and blues (which is still true) and most of

Me too. Luckily I live in the Netherlands, and there are plenty of shops that carry either neutral clothing for babies (as in all cream, with some neutrals and possibly some yellow) or clothing in all sorts of colours. Usually I end up with some greens and reds.

Don’t know if you’re on pinterest, but I stumbled on the coloured vintage wedding gowns while looking for 1840s-1870s fashion. Green, blue, purple, red, yellow, all colours of the rainbow. A coloured dress is as old as weddings, so o for it! :D

Wait, you keep the water running while cleaning your dishes? Why? Fill up the sink with soap, and do the fucking dishes. Why does the water need to be running?

I can’t find it right now, but I recently saw a video about how much the government listens to the people. Which is to say, not at all. Unless of course, if you’re super rich, have a lobbyist and/or are a company. Then the government does almost everything you want.

The show did generate a lot of requests for the sign up forms but it is unclear if all of those people still signed up after a few days. I am totally in favour of an opt-out donor system, I’m of the opinion that if you’d want to get organs if you should need them, you should also be willing to give them away after you

Yup that’s the one. I didn’t watch it when it was on, but I remember the fuss surrounding it.

I’ve despised Santorum since the last elections, or was the ones before that? He just lies all the time. And not only gets away with it, but isn’t even confronted about it. Ugh. The specific lie that brought him into my view was his idiotic lies about euthanesia in the Netherlands. I still can’t quite grasp that a

There was one, a fake one granted, that turned out to be about raising awareness about becoming a donor. But still. :P

Indeed. And not even body shape, but also stuff like, full or thin lips, large or small eyes, wide or small mouth, all of them have been popular in different places and eras. Sometimes even in the same place in different times. :)

I’m not sure in which era the monobrow was popular, but it was considered beautiful for a long time. What I take away from beauty in all eras, is that what we consider beautiful is mostly random. Evo phych BS keeps getting refuted by examples from the past where the beauty standards were VERY different, so beauty is

what the flick!? on youtube had a great review on this movie. They were pretty positive.

For me the justice system is for three reasons, the punitive aspect, which I consider the least important, protection of society and very importantly, rehabilitation. Some people are beyond rehabilitation, and they will have to be in therapy in prison for, presumably, a very long time. But the way I see it, in the US

That is also expected here, in the Netherlands. I’ve started to just say thanks sometimes, if a friend pays the compliment I will accept it with a thanks, but otherwise that is not an accepted reaction. :P

So basically they are saying men can’t wear makeup, right? That is some stupid shit.

I’ve always enjoyed afternoons in the park. A blanket some wine and snacks from the store and plastic cups (I’m classy like that) always suited. I was left alone and enjoyed my time in peace. In Amsterdam, the Vondelpark is a great hangout, I’ve lived in Nijmegen, and the the Goffertpark or the Valkhof are great

My parents demands when we were still going camping with them in Germany were one day of sightseeing with them, one day sunbathing and swimming for us. I still find that a pretty great deal. It works best if you have more time than a few days though. We usually had two weeks, that meant a week of clomping through

Why would you need to moderate anything? Because excessive use of anything can be, and very often is, harmful. Besides there is recent research that shows that moderation after an actual addiction is possible and even preferable to completely going sober.

Yeah, I’m an atheist myself and I cringe whenever those guys open their mouths. Thank goodness for people like Steve Shives, who actually supports feminism and equality in public.

Indeed. Also, “I saved my life that night”? In what alternate dimension was his life ever threatened? He says he mistook a cellphone for a gun, so even if he did think his life was in danger then, surely now he knows that he was never in any real danger? His life was never hanging in the balance!
