I read the Root article first, and I still don’t agree. I don’t believe she’s conflating racism and sexism. She’s specifically stating that she’s long been aware of the existence of both but has experienced epiphany-like moments when she’s been confronted with precisely how utterly pervasive they truly are.

Is there any way to win these discussions? Say nothing, get blasted for ignoring issues. Try to say something, admit it might be naive, get blasted. Can’t win for losing, I guess.
