Just in general people primarily speak English in Nigeria because there are so many cultures and languages there that English is the common ground. The only people who don’t speak English at all are the ones who live far out in the villages, but that’s where these girls were from, I believe. #fuckcolonialism

It’s the American University of Nigeria. In addition to an education, you get language immersion. The hope being that when you’re done you’ll also speak English (or the language of whoever set it up, I think there was a French Lycée in NYC where you could only speak French for example that Jodie Foster attended.)
