I don’t think raising the minimum wage is the answer, because it still leaves the jobless in a bad situation.

I don’t think so. So women’s jobs will increase in number, and then they will go *poof*, or at least the clerical and sales jobs will. But people are worried about all the men’s driving jobs disappearing.
So Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal may not have reindeer, but Calgary does. And Edmonton. The Edmonton zoo reindeer are absolutely gorgeous. Smaller than I was expecting, though. I want some.
They were arguing about visitation rights. I think the judge was a little exasperated.
I don’t know if anyone has posted this, but there’s a link between morning sickness and iodine. So maybe moderate the iodine in your diet?
I do.
My mom says that about alcohol - she drank and we all turned out fine (except for one crib death, and it turns out alcohol in pregnancy is a risk factor for that, not that I’m going to tell my Mom - she still isn’t over my sister’s death). And except for me being unemployable - I have no idea whether alcohol…
I was told raspberry leaf tea is good, by an older woman, but I’ve never tried it. There may be other herbal (folk) remedies as well. But I suppose herbal remedies can be dangerous too, with their active ingredients.
I didn’t really like it, but I did like the wallpaper shirt.
She’d been making fun of being a socialite since her time at finishing school in Switzerland. She was very good at it. (Someone has to be.)
I gained a lot of weight (90lbs) a couple of years ago, and I’m shrinking again. The most horrifying thing for me is that I can no longer lie on my front easily - I have to physically shove each boob off to the side before I can put my weight on my chest. I discovered this while having my first massage in years.
Can you tell him you don’t feel comfortable socializing with coworkers? (Or do you socialize with other coworkers?)
There are long versions? I saw the first swedish film in the theatre. It was . . . interesting. Rapace was arresting, of course. I guess I’m more struck by your mentioning episode 5 in your second comment. How long are the long versions?
There’s precious little projected on contemporary cinema screens that means a great deal to my life, if truth be told.
What is this meme from? It’s been driving me batty trying to figure it out.
I went carolling at a nursing home once with other members of the high school band, and got serenaded by an old guy. The others later told our band teacher about it so he could comment on it. Embarrassing. Other than that it was fun.
I think you could probably find Mein Kampf in a library somewhere, so why would you pay for it at all? (I checked - my local university library has at least one copy.) I’m in a similar bind in that I want to read Lolita for research purposes, but am unable to find any library copy (in English - too bad I can’t read…
It’s not taxing as censorship. It’s taxing media content that has an antisocial element to it, so it is public health. There’s research out there if you care to look, though you might need to visit a larger library for the summaries. I’m not going to waste my time arguing with you.
Pigovian taxes. Tax things more if you want less of them, and tax things less or not at all if you want more of them. So taxing carbon is good (it’s taxing pollution), but income taxes that are too high are bad. We have sin taxes (alcohol and tobacco) already. People complain because it’s making money off of bad…
I don’t think Cosmo is something worth getting worked up about re censorship - I mean, they’re sensationalist and in it to make a profit. It’s not like it’s serious political speech. It’s not Ms. Magazine. I realize that a general attitude against some kinds of content can lead to other kinds of opposition (Cosmo =…
