I genuinely don’t think Claire has been the problem, but she will probably make an able scapegoat.

Like this movie and is only one the five DVDs I own. I think like this movie more for the CGI and use of color throughout. Can’t remember the story much or dialogue. The use of particular colors during certain scenes once you figure which color represents who is pretty cool.
Anyone who doesn’t like this movie hates joy.
Wait, uhm, did Speed *kill* those other 2 drivers at the end there??
Truth
It seems like everyone used to pile on Speed Racer as the Worst Thing Ever. Then the Wachowskis released Jupiter Ascending, and suddenly it seemed like Speed Racer wasn’t so bad anymore.
Even better - take your 8 year-old with you to watch it.
It’s even better with some Eurobeat. The music starts at 1:30.
So question from someone who didn’t watch the 2008 film and barely remembers the cartoon: Did Speed Racer straight up murder two dudes to win the race at the end?
I unashamedly love this movie and think it’s a artistic and creative masterpiece. It’s opening 20 minutes are a masterpiece of exposition in editing.
I refuse to think that’s an unpopular opinion, really. That movie was seriously underrated for what it was trying to do, for sure, though.
It was... very colorful. The physics and engineering, however... ah, what the hell. It’s an alternative universe and the rules just don’t apply. As SF/Fantasy, it’s enjoyable on a number of levels, and the cinematography is amazing.
“Were those Ninjas?”
I just watched that clip and saw that Roger Allem is in it. He is the English guy and is in “Endeavour” on PBS.
How do you make a list about each Speed Racer Mach 5 button and not know that the jacks are for jumping ravines and opponents... the list goes on and on.
Maybe next Torch can give us the biography on Snake Oiler. That or the behind the scene on the development of the GXR,
I’m impressed that you knew that the large “M” on the Mach 5 stands for “Mifune Motors” (And on Speed’s Helmet) and that Speed’s last name is not in fact “Racer,” but “Mifune.” A reference to the actor Toshiro Mifune.
Powerful jacks are for jumping chasms, destroyed bridges thing like that. Essential for beating the Car Acrobatic Team. It’s almost like you’ve never watched Speed Racer.
“The track is too long for Cup racing in its current configuration ...”
