But a hot hatch has "hot" in the name. You can have a powerful machine that's not hot. Like a trash compactor. This is a power hatch. It's not a hot hatch.

Maybe we're buying used cars because the new ones are all automatics.

They didn’t need a reason to keep it. They needed a reason to get rid of it. They pushed this idea of the slapshift/manumantic/paddles-like-a-Ferrari because they didn’t want to spend extra on production. To put it in underground music scene terms, they sold out. This is the Fall Out Boy of cars.

A power hatch. Not that hot, but plenty of power. Like a trash compactor.

Huh.

It’s not about a “higher” standard. It’s about a different experience. You can put 35o hp in a Camry, but it’s not a muscle car. It’s okay for cars to feel different from each other. I don’t need a hot hatch to feel like a 911 or a Corvette. I want it to feel like a CRX or an FX16. As the automotive world sharpens

Nope.

If there’s no manual, it’s not a hot hatch. Look at all the “competition” listed here. Clutches down the line. A hot hatch is supposed to provide a certain experience. The car is probably fine and fast and whatever, but it’s not in the same category as the others.

Yes, but if I buy a used manual car, people on the internet will yell at me for not buying a new manual car and supporting the segment. Instead I’ll buy a new Mazda 3 turbo with a manu— Why are you looking at me like that?

Aren’t these DCT only?

Could just be the world’s most disproportionate piggyback ride.

Keep the puppy, people.

Not to mention the astoundingly racist/eugenicist roots of the abortion industry. Ope, can't call those out. Don't want to be labeled a racist.

Oh nooooooo. “Unbroken carbon fiber weave layer and true rolled edges provides for superior beauty.”

I feel betrayed.

Do you want lightweight carbon fiber fenders for $850?

Their muzzle discipline, form, and weapon choice are so terrible I thought this was certainly a piece of satirical performance art until I kept scrolling.

Will new regulations mandating incredibly heavy, unstackable, and awkwardly shaped cars prove to give American automobile manufacturers the edge they need?

I move that Ford stops talking about this until 2021. We’ve been through enough already.

I still remember Robb Holland’s awesome series about turning a street Volvo into a touring car.

Fixed.
