My version of this fantasy is that they go in and re-animate the (frankly terrible) original animated series episodes with new music and effects, but keep the original cast recordings.

I'm a big fan of Ayer. End of Watch is the closest thing I've seen to "great television" style storytelling in a traditional film. It can feel a bit unfulfilling, but it's nice to walk out of a movie wanting *more* sometimes.
