Because English children aren't raised with the same kid gloves when it comes to narrative American kids are. Read some unsanitized fairy tales and you'll discover that Doctor Who is a doddle compared to those.
If you haven't checked out Sentinels of the Multiverse, it's a great one.
Celestial's are *not* robots. How do I know? Jack Kirby told me so back in 1994.
The first group to the hive-mind wins against the robot overlords!
I haven't been able to put my finger on my issues on why I find Moffat's "character driven" meta-stories so off-putting until this episode, but it's clear now that he creates a supposed new challenge neurosis for the character, starts "exploring" that unearned storyline by hammering on it over and over again, and then…
Well, considering you can push people towards *your* email list that's a start. Publishers think retailers (and libraries) are their primary customers, which can lead to some incredible missteps. I do agree that it would be great if the ebook retailers allowed us to contact readers directly; or at least a way to…
I wish that were true. The biggest reason that I ended up leaving tradpub for self-pub is what I consider to be the terrible job they did in terms of tracking audience and that relationship.
So explain Hugh Howey and Amanda Hocking to me.
This is great on so many levels. Thanks for sharing!

Then what would it be about? Show tunes?
This is all about where the humor comes from. Green Lantern was that mocking kind of humor that revealed the creators were embarrassed about the source material. There was no warmth or passion, just a desperate, confused grab at the cash. That caring passion is the beating heart of why the Marvel universe is working…
I'd really like to know what you think "felt like Star Wars" in the prequels that didn't also feel like something out of a fan film. Fast sliding doors? Silly names? Robes?
This pretty much sums up my opinion. The problem with the prequels is that they actively undermined the sense of wonder and fantasy that made the original movies so amazing to watch. Patton Oswalt's line "I like the things I like. I don't care where they came from," nails it; there was no majesty or wonder to the…
They were buddies in college together. If you've seen what your friend is capable of, of course you're going to push to have him try and do it again.
It still has pig-men and penis faces though, right? I can't imagine wanting to go through that again...
Part of the problem is that they're presented as "Evil", and yet they end up being hapless and toothless, despite all the screaming. It might help if the Doctor hadn't simply beaten them by pointing out that he always does...
Ugh. Really? Sounds like they're stripping out any genuine romance and lyricism in favor of cynical "darkness".
