I also work in IT, and if managers summarize for you then half the time it will be wrong. I wanted to say "almost all of the time", but I have to keep my dream alive that somewhere out there are managers with actual problem solving skills.
I just think that plenty of people grew up without being constantly connected all the time. I guess with changing times, having a simple 'call only' phone is helpful to parents. But a smartphone? Naw.
As a non-parent I can't speak with authority on this, but personally I would say it should be driven by logistical necessity. Meaning at the latest when they get a Drivers License, but earlier if heavy afterschool or sports programs require variable pick up and drop off requirements. And (again not a parent) but add…
I've heard of this. How much does it cost? Looked on the site briefly but couldn't find info.
Some jobs ago I got a micromanaging boss and I can tell nothing kills faster motivation than this one.
One day I expect an article with a title like, "Finally Overcome Procrastination and Get that Task Done!" And I'll be all excited and click on it, and it'll just say:
I hate when my brain works wrong. I kept wonder what a "how to-do" list was.
That would probably fall under the optional factor "Personal Time" along with "Work Location"
72%, "This is realistically the place you want to be for the majority of your working life."
I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and guess that you have not yet been on the receiving end of an incensed, hateful message in response you a polite "thanks but no thanks". I can only speak from my experience (I'm a woman), but I know I choose not to send a "no thanks" message to an internet stranger out of…
This is clearly aimed toward the extroverted bunch. As much as I love my mom, I prefer to do some reading or go for a walk to get an energy boost. Calling her if I'm already tired would only further exhaust me.
To be fair, she DOES bake delicious cookies.
Nice try, Mom. How many batches of cookies did you have to send Lifehacker before they published this?
Powershell profiles rock. In debian, I've always used pico (sorry...I can't wrap my head around vi/vim). In powershell, I set an alias called pico > notepad++. Seems silly, but saves me so much time and reinforces my bad habits! Oh...wait...
A program called WinSplit Revolution works with ctrl-alt +numpad and can be set with custom sizes (not just left and right half), i for instance have 66% left and right side, and 33% full lower that i use quite often when scripting.
Solution: Get rid of the cat.
Great idea. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to hear your music over what I'd rather be listening to. Thanks for taking the choice out of my hands, or ears as the case may be!
please, no! One more way for those who insist on playing their crappy music as loud as their crappy speakers will go on a crowded bus.
You must've gotten a dud. I've worn the paint off the keys on two of these, and never had a problem.
